Kathie Maughan Francis
Principal and Founder

Kathie specializes in creating spaces that are individually tailored to her clients’ wishes. She believes that there are many ways to do a space “right”, and the best results are achieved when design is a collaboration with those who will live there.  Her work has been published locally & nationally.

Crystal Ludwick
Designer

Crystal has a BS in Housing Studies with an emphasis in kitchen and bath design from Oregon State.  Hired upon completing her internship with the company, she has been with Maughan Design since 2005. Crystal has a natural talent for the puzzle solving aspect of space planning, and she most enjoys creating beautiful spaces in traditional homes with elegant and classic appeal.

Brandon Sorensen
Carpenter

With twenty years experience in most aspects of residential construction, Brandon Sorensen brings a wealth of skill to the Maughan Design team.  Whether framing a kitchen addition or installing a slate shower, his workmanship is among the best Portland has to offer.

Brieanna Leger
Office Manager/Bookkeeper

Brieanna has a BA in Environmental Studies from the University of Washington.  She has been with Maughan Design since 2008.  In a nutshell, she runs the world.

As your remodeler, we believe it’s our duty to:

  • See to it that your project is completed in a timely manner.
  • Manage, supervise and stand by the work of all subcontractors.
  • Deliver the level of craftsmanship you are paying for.
  • Be properly licensed, bonded and insured and ensure our subcontractors are, too.
  • Pay all financial obligations associated with your project when due.
  • Problem-solve any issues in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate any claims against manufacturer’s warranties.
  • Be available to respond to your calls. Keep you informed and answer your questions promptly.
  • Bring along a sense of humor!
  • Be congenial under stress.
