Kimball’s Bathroom Diary – Framing!

Now that the space has been demo’d it is time to move on to framing.

To add visual interest and a place for toiletries we are putting in a half wall on the long wall of the tub/shower enclosure with niches above.  Tile backer board will be attached to the framing and chocolate tile with contrasting mini-brick tile will be installed.  A great detail that will tie into the backsplash on the vanity.

We also framed in a soffit for can lights over the vanity which was delivered this week.   This lighting will be enhanced by pendants as well to give better fill light.  Overhead light is great for ambient or general light, but can cast shadows and make a person’s face look much older – and who needs that?

The pendant lights will bring additional light from the side – perfect for shaving and putting on makeup.

The vanity cabinet, provided by Cabinetry by Karman, was delivered this week.  The traditional design has cream painted doors that have a beautiful, rich glaze.  The chocolate tile will look terrific as an accent with it.
